Château la Coste is opening its new exhibition space, designed by Renzo Piano. This new 285 m² pavilion will be both used to exhibit artworks and store wine into the wine cellars running alongside the exhibition space.

Renzo Piano inserted the pavilion into the site topography, by carving a six meters deep cavity which allows the architecture to be included within the vineyard. Due to the glass walls and rooftop, the artworks benefit from natural lightning.

The Photography Pavilion will be inaugurated on May 8th 2017, with the exhibition The Sea and the Mirror by the artist Hiroshi Sugimoto. The curator of the exhibition, Philip Larrat-Smith, has selected 8 large format artworks from the iconic series Seascapes, in order to create a poetic presentation that resonates with Renzo Piano’s architecture. The exhibit will act as a dialogue between two contemporary masters.
