Greatest Mosque
After 8 years of construction, the prayer room of the Great Mosque of Algiers (Djamaa el Djazair) opened its doors on 28 October. The construction signed by the German group KSP Jürgen Engel Architekten, with the Chinese construction company CSCEC, concentrates all the superlatives. Largest mosque in the world with 400,000 sqm of gross area, its minaret rises up to 265 metres, its prayer rooms accommodate up to 36,000 worshipers and the total capacity of the complex is 120,000 visitors.
